Rwanda Gorilla Safari

2 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safari

The 2 days Rwanda gorilla tour is an ideal package for budget and short time holiday clients. The available habituated gorilla families in Rwanda include Hirwa, Umubano, Agashya, Kwitonda, Susa A, Karisimbi, Pablo, Sabyinyo, Titus, Amahoro, Bwenge and Ugenda. Each gorilla family is unique in terms of size, social behaviours and history.

The Intore & Amakondere

The Gorilla Guardians Village is ideal for cultural experience where Intore and amakondere dances are performed. Other activities at the Gorillas Guardians Village include dressing travelers as “king and queen” to portray Rwanda’s traditional kingship.

A kigali city tour to the genocide memorial site, local markets, art galleries, presidential palace and Kigali Convention Centre is a “Must – do” for most visitors to Rwanda.

Trip Highlights

Gorilla trekking time  varies between 2 – 6 hours depending on the location of a gorilla gorilla group on a particular day.  Since there only 96 gorilla permits per day on sale, we usually advise our guests to try the Bwindi and Mgahinga national parks in Uganda. Gorilla trekking experience is almost the same as they all lie in the Virunga Massif.

Bwindi Forest in south western Uganda shelters half of the world’s gorilla population. The 2 Days  Rwanda gorilla tour is a chance to trek one of the habituated gorilla groups in VNP.

Day 1

Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes NP

Begin with a Kigali city tour. After lunch, transfer northwards for a 3 hours drive to Kinigi – Volcanoes National park headquarters. Overnight stay on full board basis at Five Volcanoes, Tiloreza Volcanoes Eco Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Virunga Inn Spa & Resort, etc.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking

On this day, your tour guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Here you  are registered, grouped together and allocated a gorilla family to visit. The real trek to meet mountain gorillas begins at 8:00 am and can last up to 8 hours depending on where the gorillas are located. The search for gorillas up and down hill is strenuous. However the magical feeling of meeting these awesome primates is worth the energy. Hike for 2 to 6 hours and once you get to the gorillas stay in their presence for an hour.  Later return to the lodge for a hot lunch before driving back to Kigali. On a good day, you might see other wild animals and birds which call this bamboo forest home
