3 Days Nyungwe Primates Safari

The 3 days Nyungwe chimpanzee Safari enables you explore Nyungwe Forest one of East Africa’s oldest forests and a haven for primates. The tour will take you through the Rwandan countryside where you will enjoy scenic views of the rolling hills with Africa Adventure Safaris.Nyungwe forest has 13 primate species, over 275 bird species, 85 mammal species and so much more. A visit to this beautiful park is ideal for the nature lovers and those much interested in primate tracking. Chimpanzee trekking is the key tourist activity in Nyungwe Forest National park. A single permit to trek chimps in Nyungwe forest costs $90 allowing you spend an hour with the endangered primates. You can either trek in the main Nyungwe Forest or in the Kyamudongo forest which was detached from the main Nyungwe forest by deforestation.

Trip Highlights

Chimpanzees and Angola Colobus monkeys are the only habituated primates in Nyungwe Forest National park. The other primates in this forest include golden monkeys, red tailed monkeys, baboons, Blue monkeys, Olive baboons, Lhoest monkeys, Vervet Monkeys, Silver Monkeys, Angola colobus, Grey cheeked mangabeys, Dent’s mona monkey and Crowned monkeys among others. Chimpanzee trekking is normally combined with canopy walk for aerial views of the forest. Other activities in the park include waterfall hiking, forest/nature walking and community tours. or bird lovers, Nyungwe Forest National park is home to some notable birds such as Black sa wing,Regal sunbird, Great Blue Turaco, Ruwenzori turaco, African Hill babbler, Great blue turaco and Bar tailed trogon among others. The 3 Days nyungwe chimpanzee tour will start and end in Kigali city

Day 1

Transfer to Nyungwe

You will be picked up from your Kigali hotel in the morning for a transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park. You will pass via Murambi genocide museum for a tour. Have another stop over at the Nyanza palace and Butare museum for a tour and then proceed to Nyungwe arriving in the late afternoon. Day 2

Chimpanzee Trek & Canopy Walk

Following a heavy morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking and then be guided to the forest. You will see the chimpanzees as well as other primates and wildlife species. Return for a lunch break and later go for a canopy walk where you will see other wildlife species and enjoy the endless beautiful scenic views.

Day 3

Nature walk Trek & Departure

After breakfast you will go for a guided nature walk along the different trails in park. Later return for a transfer to Kigali arriving late afternoon for a drop off at your hotel or airport depending on schedule.
