Join a 4 Days Uganda gorilla safari for double gorilla trekking safari with Africa Adventure Safaris. The 4 Days safari entail 2 gorilla treks to meet up with two different gorilla families in different regions. Enjoy a face to face encounter with the 2 of the 17 habituated gorilla families rewarding you with a once in a lifetime experience. The gorilla families in Bwindi include Habinyanja, Nkuringo, Nshongi, Rushegura, Mubare, Katwe, Kutu, Rwigi, Oruzogo, Bweza, Busingye, Kyaguliro, Bitukura, Mishaya and Kahungye gorilla family. Bwindi Forest Park is split into four regions which are Ruhija in the east, Buhoma in the north, Rushaga and Nkuringo in the south. You will then trek in any two regions for better comparisons and experience. The 4 days double gorilla safari in Bwindi also entails visiting Batwa and Bakiga local communities for a cultural experience. The Batwa (pygmies) will demonstrate their traditional forest life reminiscent of their past glory.  Traditional Kikiga dance and songs will be performed for great entertainment. You can participate in the dances and any other local activity (brewing local beer babysitting, grinding sorghum and peeling) which make you have a feel of the community.

Trip Highlights

Bwindi also offers you the experimental gorilla habituation experience which allow you to spend four hours with the endangered gorillas. The experience only takes place in Rushaga sector and two gorilla families are apparently undergoing training. A single gorilla trekking permit costs $750 for an hour while the four hour habituation permit costs $1500.

In addition to gorillas, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park shelters Forest Elephants, wild chimpanzees, golden cats, Giant Forest hogs, duikers, African buffalos and colobus monkeys among others.

For birding travelers, Bwindi Forest is home to over 350 bird species 23 of which are endemic to the Albertine region. The dry season between June and August is the best time for birding watching in Bwindi Forest while November to April is best for seeing migratory birds. The notable birds you will see in Bwindi Forest Crowned Hornbill, African Green Pigeon, Giant Kingfisher, African Harrier Hawk, Black bee eater, Mountain masked apalis, African broadbill, Black faced warbler and mountain masked apalis among others

Day 1

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Upon arrival at the airport, the driver guide from Africa Adventure Safaris will be waiting for you. Have a brief introduction through the itinerary on what to do and when. You will then start off a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park located in south western Uganda. The full day drive offer you great pre gorilla trekking experience. Have several stops for photography, refreshment and lunch enroute.

Day 2

First Gorilla tracking and community walk

Wake Up very early, have breakfast and get ready for drive o the park headquarters for registration and briefing. Your hotel/lodge will give you packed lunch since the actual time to spend searching for the gorillas is not certain.

At 8:00am, start u a hike through the impenetrable forest in search for the allocated gorilla family. You may come across other wild animals and birds which live in Bwindi Forest. After meeting the endangered gorillas, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence. Keep a distance, hold your camera tight and enjoy this memorable experience.

Day 3

Second Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest

Today you will have your second gorilla trekking experience. The procedures of the day are similar to the previous day. You will be allocated a gorilla family and probably in a different sector. Trekking starts at 8:00am and can last for between 2 hours to over 8 hours depending on where the gorillas will be. The allowed time with gorillas is strictly an hour counted from the time you meet the endangered gorillas. In the evening if time allows, you will visit the batwa pygmies in the borders of Bwindi Forest. This cultural tour gives you chance to learn about batwa traditional forest and how they lived harmoniously with wild animals in the jungle.

Day 4

Transfer to Kampala

This is the last day of our 4 Days safari. Have breakfast, check out and embark on a drive back to kampala for your departure flight at Entebbe International Airport.End of the tour
